I was really impressed with this book. It was thorough, and I will probably want to read it again to grasp some of the concepts better. But with it’s heavy look at the Old Testament theology coming through in the New Testament, it gave me depth and insights in Paul’s teachings that I was unaware of. The Second Exodus motif was eye opening, and the sections on the corporate body view were very enlightening. His critique of NT Wright (who I enjoy reading) was very helpful too. I have always felt that modern traditional pastor’s and laymen are so far removed from the Jewish culture and understandings of things that interpretations not only lack substance, but at time totally miss the point. Books like these take you back and will definitely cause you to re-examine things with theology changing results for most. Two thumbs and two toes up!!
